Overview

Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow post to start in February 2026. All posts are for an initial 6 month contract, however following review can be extended to 12 months. The post can be placed in the following areas: Vascular, Regional, Perioperative, Airway, Trauma, Neurology, Obstetrics, Paediatrics & Cardiac. Main duties of the job
  • Airway - This Fellowship will help fellows to gain experience and confidence in dealing with patients with difficult airways and different advanced airway techniques.
  • Preoperative - To deliver high quality preoperative assessment, investigation and management of ASA 1-4 patients for elective and emergency surgery. To deliver high quality individualised anaesthetic care to ASA 1-3 [E] patients, focusing on optimising patient experience and outcome.
  • Trauma - St George's offers excellent exposure to major trauma both within the emergency department and theatre environment. There is opportunity to undertake the trauma team leader course which is run in-house and then do sessions in the ED doing supervised trauma team leading.
  • Cardiac - Fellows will have exposure to a wide variety of cardiac surgical, thoracic, large airways and cardiology procedures.
  • Regional - As one of London's leading teaching hospitals, we are able to offer our patients a wide range of Regional Blocks. St George's Department of Anaesthesia is very proactive in promoting and teaching regional anaesthesia and interventional pain medicine procedures under ultrasound guidance. There are also opportunities to visit SWLEOC (South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre).
  • Obs - This post is designed for an anaesthetist with the final FRCA or equivalent, an interest in developing obstetrics as an ongoing career aim and provides opportunity to work at a senior level in a busy high-risk obstetric unit.
