Our client is one of the largest NHS organisations in the UK, responsible for the promotion of health and well-being of around 472,400 people living in Wales. They provide local primary care services, run health centres, community health teams, and hospitals, and are increasingly focusing on neighbourhoods and localities to ensure people receive care as close to home as possible.

The Health Board serves a wider population of 2.5 million people across South and Mid Wales and manages regional and sub-regional services, including cardiology, cardiac surgery, PICU, neurology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, medical genetics, bone marrow transplantation, renal transplant, and toxicology. On-site services include 24/7 PCI, stroke thrombolysis, maxillo-facial, trauma, general medicine, general surgery, urology, and paediatrics.

The successful appointee will be expected to:

  • Provide a service in the speciality to designated hospitals, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of accidents and acute emergencies.
  • Have responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and for the proper functioning of the department in line with the Department's Operational Policy.
  • Be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
  • Participate in a rota to ensure cover of the Emergency Unit.
  • Partake in the teaching commitments of the Emergency Unit, including teaching of undergraduates, nursing staff, and postgraduate trainees.
  • Assist with Clinical Governance and Audit duties.

Our client is based in a desirable part of Wales, offering a unique blend of rural and urban living. The role offers:

  • Full-time or part-time consideration.
  • 10 P.A's.
  • A prestigious NHS Trust.
  • A well-supported and friendly team.
