A major NHS Trust in England is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow for a 12-month fixed-term position in General Surgery. This role offers direct consultant supervision, an educational programme, and a chance to participate in clinical research and teaching. Suitable candidates should have GMC registration and prior experience in General Surgery along with on-call responsibilities at the ST level. The position includes a competitive salary based on experience and covers various clinical duties.
We are looking to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow to commence as soon as possible; appointment is for a 12 month fixed term.
Although the post is non-training grade, there will be direct Consultant supervision and an educational programme including annual appraisal, 4-monthly supervisor meetings, access to an e-portfolio and relevant study leave. There will be a specific programme of protected teaching and a wide range of other clinical training activities.
Postholders are encouraged to undertake audit and quality improvement projects. They will also be supported to pursue Membership examinations in their chosen specialty. There will be options to develop formal teaching or research.
The post offers excellent experience in General Surgery and would be suitable for someone who has completed Basic Surgical Training and is looking for an opportunity to widen their experience prior to moving on to Higher Surgical Training.
Opportunities exist within the Directorate for postholders to conduct clinical research. Furthermore the posts would be ideal for anyone wishing to undertake further academic study, e.g. MSc/B.Ed and protected study time can be built in the job plan accordingly.
