  • Ability to operate independently without supervision is desirable.

Overview

An exciting Corneal Fellowship opportunity at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is available for a fixed term of 12 months. The post comprises eight clinical sessions each week, including one to two theatre sessions, an audit/research session, and dedicated teaching time. Work is undertaken across multiple sites as outlined in the sample timetable within the job description.

The role includes opportunities to attend departmental teaching sessions on Thursday afternoons and to develop corneal surgery skills through surgical sessions alongside a consultant ophthalmic surgeon.

Qualifications and Experience

  • FRCOphth/MRCOphth or equivalent ophthalmic qualification is necessary.
  • Applicants should be at Specialist Trainee grade or equivalent and approaching/completing higher specialist training in Ophthalmology.
  • Experience in phacoemulsification cataract surgery with at least 250 surgeries completed, with audit evidence of results.
  • Ability to operate independently without supervision is desirable.
