The Role

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with experience in the design, coordination, and delivery of airfield or infrastructure projects, particularly relating to aircraft stands, pavement works, and drainage systems.

The successful candidate will take technical responsibility for the design and delivery of civil engineering works within a live airport environment, including preparing stand modifications, managing operational notifications, and coordinating the advertisement and approval process for new works.

This is a hands‑on role that combines technical engineering expertise with strong stakeholder coordination, ensuring all works meet the highest safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, assessment, and delivery of airfield civil engineering works, including aircraft stands, pavements, and associated drainage.
  • Prepare and review design drawings, specifications, and technical reports in accordance with airport standards and engineering best practice.
  • Coordinate and manage the submission of notifications and advertisements for planned works, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory procedures.
  • Liaise with airport operations, planning, and safety teams to develop and implement works phasing, temporary closures, and stand restrictions.
  • Support the preparation of technical documentation for approvals under relevant standards and authorities.
  • Ensure all works comply with airside safety, environmental, and quality management requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to junior engineers and site teams.
  • Monitor works on site to verify design intent and quality standards are achieved.
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (Chartered or near‑chartered status preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years experience in civil infrastructure design or construction, ideally within an airport, highways, or rail environment.
  • Strong understanding of pavement design, drainage systems, and utilities coordination.
  • Familiarity with airfield operations, CAP 168 / ICAO standards, and airport safety processes (desirable).
