Senior Civil & Geotechnical Engineer (Rail)

Location: Bristol or Swindon (with regional site travel) Salary: £51,000 - £56,000 + Car / Allowance (£4,700) Framework: Network Rail CP7

Are you ready to be the technical authority for critical rail infrastructure?

We are seeking a Senior Civil & Geotechnical Engineer to join a high-performing Civils South West team delivering essential geotechnical and drainage works within the demanding Network Rail CP7 framework. This is a pivotal role where your expertise will bridge the gap between design and physical delivery, ensuring safety, quality, and technical excellence on every project.

What You'll Be Doing :
  • Construction Responsible Engineer (CRE) : Take accountability for technical assurance, formally signing off designs, and ensuring compliance with Network Rail standards.
  • Engineering Leadership : Manage the entire engineering process, from interpreting designs to successful site delivery across multiple sites between Gloucester and Glastonbury.
  • Team Development : Lead, mentor, and inspire a site-based team, including Graduate Engineers and Apprentices.
  • Technical Problem Solver : Act as the primary point of contact for technical queries (RFIs, NCRs) and material acceptance (MARS).
  • Safety & Compliance : Prepare, approve, and implement essential safety documentation (WPPs, CPPs, Task Briefs) and conduct site health & safety inspections.
Your Expertise :
  • Proven experience in the Rail sector, ideally with familiarity with Network Rail processes.
  • Strong Civil Engineering background with a demonstrable focus on Geotechnical and Drainage works.
  • Experience in successfully managing and integrating subcontractors.
  • A Civil Engineering degree is essential (Master's preferred).
  • Current CSCS card.

Bonus Points: Existing CRE experience, Membership of ICE, and working towards Chartership.

  • Competitive Salary : £51,000 - £56,000 per annum.
