Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer

Permanent | Manchester (Hybrid Working Available)

The Opportunity

We are working on behalf of a well-established, employee-owned, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer or Senior Infrastructure Engineer for their growing Manchester office.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a people-focused consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions across the UK. The role sits within a collaborative and expanding infrastructure team, working closely with transport planning, flood risk and environmental specialists.

About the Role

You will be involved in the delivery of a wide range of development infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on large-scale residential schemes, alongside commercial, industrial and energy developments. Projects typically range from 100 units to several thousand dwellings, covering the full project lifecycle from early feasibility through planning, detailed design and construction support.

The role is predominantly office-based in Manchester, with hybrid working available by agreement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver infrastructure designs across multiple projects, or support a Principal/Associate on larger schemes
  • Provide day-to-day project management, ensuring programmes, budgets and quality standards are met
  • Prepare and review technical designs, drawings and calculations in accordance with relevant standards and internal QA procedures
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, including delegating and checking work
  • Liaise directly with clients, local authorities, statutory undertakers and other stakeholders
  • Assist with fee proposals, financial control and business development activities
Design and Technical Duties Will Include
  • Concept and detailed drainage strategies (foul and surface water)
  • Levels strategies and earthworks appraisals
  • Planning support documents including Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Technical Notes and Utilities Statements
  • Due diligence and site feasibility assessments
  • Detailed design and construction drawings
  • Securing technical approvals including S104, S38 and S278 agreements
Candidate Requirements
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset, with strong communication skills and a desire to continue developing technically and professionally
  • Sound knowledge of relevant guidance and standards including Sewer Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, DMRB and CIRIA C753
  • Consultancy experience working on development infrastructure schemes, ideally residential-led
  • Advanced proficiency in MicroDrainage / Flow and AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D / Site 3D is advantageous
  • Experience across pre-planning, planning and detailed design stages, including technical approvals
