About the Role

Onpoint Care Recruitment is seeking experienced and confident Senior Residential Support Workers to support children’s residential homes across East Sussex. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about safeguarding, trauma‑informed practice, and creating safe, nurturing environments for children and young people.

As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll lead shifts, support junior staff, and provide consistent, therapeutic care to children with emotional, behavioural, or complex needs. Every shift offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young person’s life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and supporting staff teams during shifts
  • Providing high‑quality, trauma‑informed care to children and young people
  • Supporting children with emotional, behavioural, or complex needs
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
  • Managing challenging situations using de‑escalation and behaviour support techniques
  • Completing accurate daily records, incident reports, and handovers
  • Supporting care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies
  • Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
  • Promoting independence, resilience, and positive outcomes for young people
Essential Requirements
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification)
  • Minimum 6 months UK experience as a Senior Support Worker in a children’s residential setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma‑informed practice, and behaviour support
  • Confidence leading shifts and supporting junior staff
  • Excellent communication, resilience, and emotional awareness
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
Desirable
  • Experience supporting children with EBD, trauma, or complex needs
  • Training in de‑escalation or behaviour management
