Location: Cross-site - Gloucestershire (Cheltenham, Gloucester, and associated facilities)

Salary: £56,370 - £63,629 per annum

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Capital Project Manager to lead the planning, management, and delivery of complex capital projects across our healthcare estate. Working across multiple hospital sites, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest standards — on time and within budget.

You will oversee a multidisciplinary team of project managers, consultants, and contractors, ensuring alignment with clinical priorities and organisational objectives. This is a high-profile role with significant autonomy, requiring strong stakeholder engagement, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the full lifecycle of capital projects, from feasibility to handover
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and NHS standards
  • Oversee procurement, contract management, and supplier performance
  • Monitor project delivery against cost, time, and quality benchmarks
  • Champion service improvement and innovation across the capital function
  • Provide visible leadership and workforce development across the team
  • Represent the capital function within the Senior Management Team
  • Participate in the senior manager on-call rota
Ideal Candidate
  • Educated to Master's level or equivalent experience
  • Postgraduate qualification in project or construction management (e.g. PRINCE2, APM)
  • Proven experience delivering major capital projects in complex environments
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and performance management skills
  • Knowledge of NHS standards, HTMs, HBNs, and sustainability principles
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, CIOB, IWFM) desirable
