Senior CAD/ CAM Programmer

Location: Leicester

Salary: £45K

Regional Recruitment Services are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business based in Leicester, who are looking to add a Senior CAD/ CAM Programmer to their team on a permanent basis.

The Role

As Senior CAD / CAM Programmer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality, dimensionally accurate CAD drawings and CNC programs to support the manufacture of sheet metal components to customer specifications. You will play a pivotal role in improving programming efficiency, supporting production teams, and ensuring drawing and program control across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Produce, review, and optimise CNC programs for laser cutting and press brake operations
  • Provide advanced folding instructions and technical drawings for shop-floor teams
  • Drive efficiency improvements, cycle-time reductions, and process optimisation
  • Act as a technical escalation point for programming and manufacturing issues
  • Support, mentor, and guide junior CAD / CAM programmers and operators
  • Liaise closely with engineering, production, and senior stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement and best-practice implementation across the business
  • Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and compliance
Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes
  • Extensive experience in CAD / CAM programming within sheet metal or fabrication environments
  • Advanced SolidWorks capability, particularly in sheet metal design
  • Proven experience programming laser cutting and press brake machinery
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming logic, tooling, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to interpret complex customer specifications and engineering drawings
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office and CAD / CAM software suites
  • Experience operating in a senior, lead, or specialist technical role
