Job description

Are you a Senior Buyer practiced in working with complex supply chains & purchasing electro-mechanical components including electronics?

Working for this high-tech company based just outside of Cambridge as a Senior Buyer, you will help to define supply chain strategy with a big focus on NPD/NPI projects, contract manufacturing, and global supplier management.

You will be the right hand to the Purchasing Team Leader, shaping supplier strategy, supporting product development from concept to launch, and negotiating contracts that hit delivery, quality and cost targets.

What you'll be doing on a day to day basis:

  • Leading supply chain input into new product development
  • Selecting and managing international suppliers
  • Negotiating contracts for outsourced components
  • Driving cost savings, mitigating risk, and improving performance
  • Supporting the team with purchasing best practice

What you'll need:

  • Strong supply chain background in a regulated industry with complex supply chains including working with international suppliers (ideally within high-tech engineering)
  • Experience with contract manufacturers and NPI
  • Practiced supporting with the whole lifecycle costing process
  • Confident influencing senior stakeholders
  • Ideally CIPS Level 4 (or close to it)
  • UK driving licence + willingness to travel
