Job description

Build more than projects — help shape communities.

An established, values-led multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to join its growing team in Billericay. With a heritage spanning several decades and a national footprint across the UK, this practice is known for delivering practical, intelligent, and sustainable design solutions that genuinely improve the places people live and work.

This is an opportunity to step into a senior, influential role within a consultancy that combines the stability of a long-established firm with the energy and ambition of a modern, people-focused business.

Why This Consultancy?

This is a business built on strong values, collaboration, and long-term relationships — both with clients and its people. Teams work across commercial, education, defence, residential, healthcare, and public sector projects, offering a rare level of integrated design and technical expertise typically found only in much larger organisations.

The culture is best described as high-performing but human: people work hard, support one another, and genuinely enjoy being part of the team. Professional excellence sits alongside social connection, flexibility, and wellbeing.

The organisation continues to grow, with further UK offices planned as part of its long-term national strategy.

The Role

As Senior Building Surveyor, you will play a key role in both project delivery and team leadership, working closely with the Building Surveying Director to support, mentor, and help drive the service forward.

You will lead your own instructions while overseeing others, delivering a broad mix of professional and project-based surveying services.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Acting as Building Surveyor on a range of professional and project commissions from inception to completion.
  • Leading and overseeing dilapidations, PPMs, condition surveys, pre-acquisition surveys, and defect analysis reports.

  • Preparing specifications and tender documentation; assessing tenders and advising clients.
  • Acting as Contract Administrator across a variety of building types, including commercial, industrial, and public sector assets.
  • Supporting the Building Surveying Director in team management, workload coordination, and delivery of consistently high-quality work.

Please note: the role may require security clearance (e.g. DBS, BPSS, CTC, SC or DV), depending on project exposure.
