Overview

A Vacancy at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, focused and enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist (BMS) to join the team at our Blood Sciences laboratory at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate. This role is the Senior Biomedical Scientist in Haematology (Band 7), full-time, permanent and substantive. You will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary blood science team that provides 24/7 specialist and acute services to the patients of East Kent.

Responsibilities
  • Day‑to‑day management of the Haematology laboratory, reporting to the Chief BMS.
  • Ability to train in all aspects of Haematology, including coagulation and blood film morphology.
  • Participation in the multi‑disciplinary continuous processing pattern (CPP) 24‑7‑365, including nights, weekends and bank holidays; system fully WTD compliant.
  • Demonstrate achievement of targets, implement service developments and service transformation initiatives, maintain high attention to detail and provide excellent communication.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Effective leadership skills, significant Haematology knowledge and experience.
  • Good track record of managing staff and laboratory resources.
  • HCPC registered and hold an IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology (options and further details in the full Job Description).
