Job description

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Swindon Dispute Resolution team.

Our Dispute Resolution team advise on a wide variety of disputes, acting for large commercial clients, owner managed businesses and individuals across all industries and sectors.

We would be looking for the newest team member to grow and develop the Team, whilst maintaining a consistent level of excellent client service, demonstrating market / sector knowledge. They will support the Head of Team to achieve the Team Business Plan and its contribution to the Business Unit Business Plan. There will be online management and supervisory responsibility for Solicitors, Paralegals and other juniors in the team.

Duties will include :

  • Senior lawyer leading on own client matters and assisting partners on highly complex matters.
  • Demonstrating market / sector knowledge and experience and ensuring solid legal advice is given.
  • Build effective relationships with own clients and / or referrers by exceeding client service expectations and where appropriate, support partners on the management and development of larger key clients.
  • Able to make decisions with minimal supervision, referring to partners where appropriate on highly complex issues or new areas of work.
  • Develop a profile as an established expert and trusted advisor for internal and external referrals.
  • Writing articles, blogs, engaging with social media, producing vlogs / podcasts on topical issues to raise own, team and firm's profiles.
  • Supervise and coach others within the team, ensuring excellent quality output.
  • Recognise and contributes towards talent development within the team, sharing knowledge and delegating work appropriately.
  • An ambassador of the firm, role modelling the values and promoting ESG and ED&I.
  • Help to manage department and cross functional projects and initiatives, contributing positively towards team engagement.
Skills, Experience and Attributes
  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive 6+PQE
  • Previous experience within commercial and civil disputes, insolvency, debt recovery, professional negligence.
  • Exposure or interest in specialisms such as Contractual, negligence, misrepresentation, restitution based commercial disputes , Directors, shareholders and partnership disputes, Debt recovery and enforcement, professional negligence is very desirable
  • Ability to manage own files and delegate work to others
  • Strong client management skills with a focus on delivery of excellent client service
  • Proven ability to win new business through successful BD activity
  • Ability to supervise and line manage a small team
