A leading educational staffing agency is seeking a compassionate SEND Support Assistant for a specialist SEN school in South Leeds. This full-time position involves supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) in a semi-formal learning environment. We are seeking a compassionate and committed SEND Support Assistant to work full-time in a specialist SEN school in South Leeds (LS10).
This role focuses on supporting pupils with PMLD within a semi-formal learning environment. You will play a key role in helping pupils access education, develop life skills, and achieve their EHCP targets through highly personalised support.
Work with a small class group, supporting pupils aged 4-19 with PMLD and complex needs.
Assist with moving & handling (hoisting, repositioning) - full training provided if required.
Provide personal care support including toileting, feeding, and changing.
Support teachers in delivering semi-formal curriculum activities, including sensory play, communication sessions, and independence skills.
Use communication aids such as Makaton, PECS, and visual timetables to help pupils engage.
Experience working with PMLD, complex needs, or care support is highly desirable.
A patient, empathetic, and reliable approach to working with vulnerable learners.
Willingness to complete Moving & Handling training (essential).
Comfortable with personal care as part of the role.
Enhanced DBS (child or child/adult workforce) on the Update Service - or willingness to apply.
