Overview

SEND Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Bristol – September 2025 – Full time role. Competitive rates of pay. We\'re seeking an experienced and confident HLTA to join a forward-thinking school in Bristol this September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to combine classroom teaching, strategic support, and one-on-one interaction with pupils with a variety of special educational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored support across multiple classes
  • Assist in lesson planning and resource preparation
  • Lead sessions and supervise classes during teacher absence (max 8 pupils)
  • Support behaviour strategies and school-wide SEN initiatives
  • Work with the leadership team to drive pupil progress and wellbeing
What We're Looking For
  • Experience supporting students with complex SEN and behavioural needs
  • HLTA qualification (or equivalent Level 3 + experience)
  • Confident communicator, team player, and highly organised
  • Understanding of alternative communication methods (e.g., PECs, Makaton)
  • Comfortable leading small groups and delivering planned activities
