SEN Tutor Trafford (January 2026)

Role Overview

Prospero Teaching is looking for an experienced and compassionate SEN Tutor to deliver 1:1 tuition to children and young people in Trafford starting January 2026. This role is perfect for tutors who are confident supporting learners with additional needs and want to make a meaningful, long‑term impact.

Location & Contract Details

Location: Trafford pupils' homes or community‑based settings

Start date: January 2026

Pay rate: From 25 per hour (dependent on experience)

Contract type: Part‑time / Contract

Hours: Flexible

About the Students

You will support learners with a range of Special Educational Needs, including:

  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health)
  • Learning difficulties

Many students may be disengaged from mainstream education or working below age‑related expectations. Sessions will be fully personalised to support engagement, confidence, and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition in core subjects (English, Maths, or Functional Skills)
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles and emotional needs
  • Build positive, consistent relationships to support engagement and confidence
  • Provide structure, routine, and encouragement
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to parents, carers, and professionals
  • Plan and deliver structured, student‑centred sessions
Essential Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or targeted interventions
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Child Barred List (or willingness to apply)
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
  • QTS, PGCE, EYFS, or equivalent
  • Experience supporting Autism, ADHD, or SEMH
  • Outreach or alternative provision experience
