SEN Teaching Assistant (Part-Time)

Primary School, Haringey, North London – Start Date: ASAP

Overview

An inclusive and nurturing primary school in Haringey is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 1 child with additional behavioural needs. This role involves supporting a Year 1 pupil who requires consistent, structured support to access learning and manage behaviour successfully. The child can display defiant and challenging behaviour, therefore a calm, patient, and empathetic approach is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support tailored to the pupil's individual needs
  • Support engagement with learning activities, both in and out of the classroom
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interactions with peers
  • Implement behaviour strategies in line with school guidance
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents to ensure a consistent and joined‑up approach
  • Support the child's emotional regulation and well‑being
