Overview

SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT – CTEMPORARY POSTS. Netherhall Mead is a very effective, well-resourced special school for pupils aged 4–19 years who have severe and profound multiple learning difficulties. We are part of The Mead Educational Trust (TMET), a growing partnership of primary and secondary schools across the East Midlands, committed to ensuring every pupil achieves their very best. We are seeking temporary Level 1 Teaching Assistants, with the potential for these roles to become permanent depending on the needs of the school.

We are looking for someone who is patient, reliable, eager to learn, and who brings warmth, confidence and a commitment to creating a safe, supportive environment where children can grow and thrive. With full training provided, this is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day.

Contract and hours

Hours: 32½ hours per week – 39 weeks (term time + 5 training days).

Salary: Grade Band 4, Points 7–10, £20,169–£21,500 (actual salary).

Responsibilities and qualifications
  • The successful candidate will support pupils with SEND, working under the direction of teaching staff to support learning and development.
  • Good basic education is required.
  • Previous experience of working as a Teaching Assistant is desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrates patience, reliability and a willingness to learn; contributes to a warm, inclusive school community.

Safeguarding and pre-employment checks
  • The successful applicant will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Applicants will be required to undertake pre-employment checks including a declaration that neither they, nor anyone in the same household, is a disqualified person under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2018, as well as other necessary checks.
  • Online checks will also be carried out on shortlisted candidates in line with KCSIE recommendations.
