About the Role

As an SEN Primary Tutor, you’ll deliver engaging, tailored teaching to individual pupils or small groups, helping them make meaningful progress across core subjects and essential life skills.

Working closely with teachers, learning support assistants and a wider multidisciplinary team, you’ll ensure every child receives the right balance of support and challenge to thrive.

You’ll also take ownership of a specific area of work-related learning, contributing to curriculum development and helping embed practical, functional education that prepares pupils for their next steps—both in and beyond school.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver personalised teaching to individuals or small groups, primarily in core subjects

Plan, adapt and deliver sessions aligned with individual learning plans and EHCPsFail

Contribute to vocational and work-related learning where appropriate

Support pupils to develop functional, social and life skills

Track and monitor progress, sharing insights and feedback with colleagues

Create and maintain a learning environment that meets pupils’ sensory and emotional needs

Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants and the wider team to ensure consistency and continuity

Essential Skills

Experience working with children with SEN, particularly autism

Ability to adapt teaching approaches to suit a range of learning styles and needs
