Semi-Senior Accountant

A well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Essex is seeking a motivated Semi-Senior Accountant to join their team. The firm has built a strong reputation for providing high-quality accounting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from sole traders to limited companies.

This role has been created to support the existing team by taking ownership of accounts preparation, tax returns and VAT compliance. It's an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop within a supportive, client-focused practice environment.

Role Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements for a range of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Process and file corporation tax and personal tax returns.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Liaise directly with clients to gather information and resolve queries.
  • Support bookkeeping and management accounts work where required.
  • Assist senior team members with reviews and ad-hoc accounting projects.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with deadlines.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements within the practice.
Personal Requirements
  • Part-qualified or qualified ACA / ACCA / AAT (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience working within an accountancy practice.
  • Sound understanding of UK accounting standards, corporation tax, and VAT.
  • Confident using cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
