Pay: £100 - £110 per day

Tradewind Recruitment are currently working with a welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in Prestwich, Bury, who are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them achieve their full potential in a school setting.

About the Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with additional needs both in and outside of the classroom. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Providing tailored 1 : 1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Helping to implement individual behaviour and support plans.
  • Promoting positive learning behaviours and emotional regulation.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage confidence and participation.
  • Liaising with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to ensure each child’s needs are met effectively.
About You

To be considered for this role, you must have prior experience working in schools or within an educational setting. We are looking for someone who is :

  • Experienced in supporting young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour.
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient, with excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
  • Committed to making a real difference in students’ learning and well‑being.
  • Team Teach or similar de‑escalation training would be advantageous, but not essential.
