Overview

SEMH Teaching Assistant

Academics Ltd is seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant for an SEMH School based in Birmingham (B12). The school is looking for a dynamic SEMH Qualified Teaching Assistant to work with a small Key Stage 3/4 class with no more than 9 children. All pupils are statemented with challenging behaviour and other additional needs. The school are looking for a strong PRU/SEN TA who has experience of working with children with challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities
  • Support a small Key Stage 3/4 class (up to 9 pupils) with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Assist with behaviour management and provide pastoral support to help pupils engage in learning.
  • Provide programme support with minimal planning and marking; implement instructions from teachers and follow school policies.
  • Build rapport with young people and support their social and emotional development.
Requirements
  • Qualified PRU TA with Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Team Teach trained.
  • Experience teaching in a PRU or SEMH school.
  • Excellent behaviour management and ability to build rapport with young people.
  • Understanding and empathy for social and emotional needs; recent experience within the last 2 years.
