Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist independent school in Surrey for a committed and enthusiastic Primary Teacher. This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and thrives in a nurturing, child‑centred environment.

Our client is a small specialist provision supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and additional needs such as autism and ADHD. The school offers a therapeutic and trauma‑informed approach, with small class sizes and a strong emphasis on building relationships, confidence and engagement in learning.

As a Primary Teacher, you will:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the primary curriculum
  • Support pupils working at a range of academic levels, often below age‑related expectations
  • Create a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment
  • Develop strong, positive relationships that support emotional regulation and learning
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and pastoral staff
  • Monitor progress and adapt teaching to meet individual learning and wellbeing needs
We are looking for a Primary Teacher who:
  • Holds, or is working towards, QTS/QTLS (essential)
  • Has experience in primary teaching (SEND or SEMH experience desirable but not essential)
  • Demonstrates strong behaviour management through a relational and restorative approach
  • Is patient, resilient and adaptable
  • Is committed to inclusive, trauma‑informed practice
