Job description
SEMH Primary Teacher - Unleash Potential!

Are you a dedicated and inspiring Primary Teacher ready to make a profound difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you believe in building strong, nurturing relationships and fostering a love for learning in every child, regardless of their background or challenges?

If so, we want to hear from you!

About Us

Based in Hampshire, we are an independent specialist school providing high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred education for boys aged 11-17. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and all have SEMH needs, often alongside other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) like Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.

We are a trauma and attachment-informed organisation, meaning you\'ll receive extensive therapeutic training and support to empower you in this varied and rewarding role. Our unique, triangulated approach places the child at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that education, therapy, parents, local authorities, and most importantly, our students, collaborate to achieve outstanding outcomes.

The Role: More Than Just a Teacher

Here, we are primarily teachers of children before we are teachers of subjects. Your central focus will be on truly knowing each child, building professional, nurturing, and positive relationships, and igniting their motivation to learn.

While we are seeking a Primary Teacher, the ability and willingness to teach English and/or Maths to GCSE level is a significant advantage. We hold high aspirations for all our children, maintaining that qualifications are crucial for providing them with life chances and opportunities.

As a teacher with us, you\'ll inspire a sense of awe and wonder, making subjects real and relevant. You\'ll plan exciting and engaging learning opportunities that challenge and stretch students, whether they\'re working on foundational skills or exploring a special talent. Our children need very special teachers - those who can manage complex and challenging behaviours with attention, consistent and flexible communication, and a non-judgmental approach.

We value your input and welcome your active participation in decision-making that shapes our school, drives student outcomes, and advocates for every child. You\'ll have the opportunity to contribute to both our academic curriculum and our extra-curricular offerings, bringing your own interests and passions to the table.

What We Offer You

Joining us means becoming part of a supportive and expanding national organisation that truly values its staff. Here are just some of the benefits you\'ll enjoy:

  • Competitive salary
  • £2000 one-off bonus upon successful completion of your probation period
  • Small class sizes with dedicated specialist TA support
  • Staff laptop and mobile phone
  • Extensive training and professional qualification opportunities
  • The chance to grow your career within an organisation that fosters leadership from within
  • Enhanced occupational sickness scheme
  • Flexible pension scheme
  • Regular therapeutic and supportive supervision
  • Employee benefit service with access to wellbeing services, salary sacrifice schemes, high street vouchers, and discounts on dining out and takeaways.
