Overview

Are you passionate about making a difference in a young person\'s life? Do you have experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Prospero Teaching are looking for a compassionate, patient, and proactive Mentor to support a Year 5 pupil in the Farnborough area.

This young person is currently on a partial timetable and requires tailored support to help them thrive. The Mentor will play a key role in fostering a supportive learning environment and building positive relationships with the pupil and school staff.

Responsibilities
  • Building self-esteem and confidence
  • Engaging in light learning activities
  • Fostering positive adult relationships
  • Providing emotional support and encouragement
  • Supporting emotional regulation and social skills
  • Encouraging participation in learning tasks
  • Liaising with school staff and other professionals as needed
About you / Qualifications
  • Experienced in working with children with SEMH needs
  • Calm, nurturing, and resilient
  • Able to build trust and rapport with young people
  • Creative in engaging children in learning and play
  • Reliable and committed to consistent support
  • Have at least 1 year of experience working within UK schools
  • Confident in planning and delivering creative, learner-centred sessions
  • Employs a nurturing, adaptable, and student-centred approach

Essential & Desirable Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
  • Trauma informed - desirable
Eligibility
  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
