Make a Real Impact – Support Young People with SEMH Needs in a Specialist School Setting

Monarch Education, part of Affinity Workforce, is proud to be working in close partnership with a highly respected Alternative Provision SEND school in Rugby. This nurturing and inclusive setting supports children and young people aged 7-17 who have experienced significant barriers to learning, including trauma, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and autism spectrum conditions (ASC).

The school provides a therapeutic and structured environment where pupils receive tailored support to help them regulate emotions, build resilience, and re-engage with education. With small class sizes and a strong pastoral focus, staff work collaboratively to meet the individual needs of every learner.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and proactive Learning Mentor to join this dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience in education, care, psychology, or youth work who is passionate about making a difference.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils with SEMH and ASC needs during lessons and off-site activities
  • Build trusting relationships with students to promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions focused on wellbeing, social skills, and engagement
  • Assist teachers and support staff in creating inclusive and structured learning environments
  • Help manage behaviour using trauma-informed and restorative approaches
  • Contribute to pupil progress tracking and pastoral support plans
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ASC, or additional needs
  • Background in education, care, psychology, youth work, or similar fields
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
