Job summary

An environmental organization is looking for a Seagrass Recovery Officer to lead a critical restoration project in Essex. The successful applicant will work closely with Project Seagrass and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to restore seagrass over a fixed-term 36-month contract. A valid UK driving licence is required. The position offers a salary of £29,900 per annum.

Qualifications

Overview

The Seagrass Recovery Officer will play a key role in delivering the Trust's intertidal seagrass active restoration work. The postholder will work in partnership with Project Seagrass to deliver an active seagrass restoration programme in Essex and will expand our established experimental approach as part of Transforming the Thames.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver active seagrass restoration work as part of the Transforming the Thames programme for the Essex location.
  • Expand and apply our established experimental active seagrass restoration approach within the project scope.
  • Work in partnership with Project Seagrass to implement the active restoration programme.
  • Contribute to the partnership's impact and develop the evidence base for future seagrass restoration in the Greater Thames Estuary.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project milestones within the 3-year delivery period.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Ability to contribute to a 3-year active restoration delivery plan restoring Nanozostera noltii (dwarf eelgrass) within an area of 2 ha across two locations.
  • Valid full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Commitment to the project schedule: fixed-term, 36-month contract starting January 2026, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
  • Salary: £29,900 per annum.
