Screening Practitioner

We are looking for a full‑time screening practitioner to support the nursing team within the Bowel Cancer Screening (BCS) team for 12 months. BCS has been a designated centre since 2007, covering Camden, Islington, Haringey, Enfield and Barnet. The nursing team supports patients within endoscopy procedure rooms across UCH, Whittington Hospital and the upcoming lists at Chase Farm Hospital – you will need to work across all three sites.

The team consists of 13 nurses who work closely with administrative and medical staff. Most nurses work longer days within a 4‑day week, but a flexible working pattern can be arranged to meet service needs.

Main duties of the job

The screening practitioner supports the specialist nurses in caring for patients within the bowel cancer screening service. Your responsibilities include direct data entry, accurate record‑keeping and acting as a patient advocate throughout the service. The role mainly involves supporting patients in endoscopy procedures, telephone advice and follow‑up.

Knowledge of endoscopy is preferred but not essential; full training, induction and mentorship will be provided.
