We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Scientist to join the Target Selectivity group within Bioscience. You will be laboratory based and specialize in quantitative in vitro assays to advance research projects for crop protection. You will have the opportunity to make significant scientific contributions and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
  • Developing and conducting in vitro biochemical or binding assays to understand how our compounds act on their protein targets.
  • Planning and executing work programmes independently, combining personal expertise, in-house knowledge, and comprehensive literature searches.
  • Analyzing and interpreting data, producing reports and communications materials, and presenting to various stakeholders.
  • Contributing to project decisions and work-program design in collaboration with scientific experts.
  • Learning and implementing HSE actions to ensure operations are within defined standards.
  • Reviewing and advancing established protocols to improve capability and efficiency.
  • Building an internal network at Syngenta with key contacts from other disciplines.
Qualifications
  • A degree in biochemistry or a related subject.
  • A-level chemistry or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a scientific laboratory, with demonstrated independence in progressing scientific projects - this could be through academic studies or placements.
  • Understanding of experimental design principles and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and data.
  • Creativity for solving problems.
  • Eagerness to expand expertise in crop protection science and industry trends.
Desirable skills and experience
  • Experience or knowledge of in vitro enzyme-inhibition assays and ligand-binding assays.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge of biochemistry.
