Job summary

A healthcare provider is seeking an enthusiastic Scientific Officer in Quality Management to work closely with the Pathology Quality Manager at two hospital sites in Huddersfield. The role involves maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), assisting with accreditation requirements, and enhancing quality standards across Pathology disciplines. Candidates must have HCPC registration, quality experience, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Serve as the point of contact within the Quality team for Quality Management matters.
  • Triage requests for support and liaise with the Quality Manager.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the electronic Quality Management System.
  • Provide advice on accreditation, governance, and quality assurance.

Vacancy Overview

We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Scientific Officer in Quality Management within CHFT's Pathology Department, to work closely with the Pathology Quality Manager. The Pathology Department is across two hospital sites (Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital) and all areas of the pathology service are currently UKAS accredited.

Key Requirements
  • Qualified HCPC Biomedical Scientist with prior Pathology quality experience and UKAS accreditation.
  • Experience in pathology quality management.
  • Well‑developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Registered with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily maintenance of the QMS, including induction training, competency assessment, system auditing and data collection, supporting continual improvement and quality harmonisation across all Pathology disciplines.
  • Serve as the point of contact within the Quality team for all Quality Management matters.
  • Triage requests for support and communicate effectively with the Quality Manager and Administrator to ensure appropriate guidance and support across Pathology.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with maintenance and continual improvement of the Quality Management System and the electronic Quality Management System.
  • Provide advice (within scope of practice) alongside the Pathology Quality Manager on matters relating to accreditation, governance, and quality assurance to meet UKAS, ISO, MHRA Blood Safety, Quality Regulations, and Human Tissue Act requirements.
