Role Overview

Supporting our Senior Science Technician, the post holder will be part of a large and successful Science department, based in well-equipped laboratories.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing materials, solutions, specimens and assembling apparatus for lessons and examinations
  • Sterilising and maintaining equipment and taking care of plants and other science materials
  • Ensuring high standards of health and safety and regulatory compliance for the use, storage, maintenance and disposal of materials, chemicals and equipment
  • Checking stock levels and reordering
  • Where applicable, assisting the teacher with coursework, lesson delivery and assessments
Qualifications & Competencies

To apply, you will have a genuine enthusiasm for Science and be passionate about supporting our students’ success. You must have experience of handling scientific equipment and substances, and knowledge of health and safety issues in a laboratory context. You will be familiar with setting up and using administrative systems, and be competent in using IT systems. Excellent organisational, prioritising and teamwork skills are essential for working in a busy classroom environment. Your ability to work flexibly and creatively, providing a professional service at all times will be a key asset, as will your ability to communicate effectively with staff and students.

The role is covered by part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 and therefore the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
