Job description
Science Teacher – Day-to-day supply from as soon as possible

These flexible opportunities are ideal for Science Teachers who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings in Okehampton and the surrounding areas.

Duties as Science Teacher:
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and positively
  • Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Collaborate with other staff to support whole-school initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil attainment and behaviour
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment
Ideal Science Teacher:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching Science in UK secondary schools
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Science education
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new school environments
  • A flexible and proactive attitude to supply teaching
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Your salary - dependent on experience - is paid weekly through PAYE. All candidates registering with Step Teachers are subject to safeguarding checks in line with the DfE’s statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education, including reference checks and an Enhanced DBS check either registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
