Job description
The role

Uppingham School is seeking an experienced and highly qualified organist to join our vibrant and ambitious music department on a permanent basis.

The school's musical life is rich and varied, with an exceptionally busy programme that includes orchestral, choral and chamber music activity, alongside a concert band, a jazz band, regular pupil recitals, an annual recital competition, concerto performances with professional ensembles, and a wide range of choirs.

As School Organist, you will be closely involved in the daily musical life of the school, playing for assemblies and services and accompanying the Chamber and Chapel Choirs in rehearsals and performances. You will play a leading role in the full school Chapel service each week and play for major occasions throughout the year, including Advent and Christmas celebrations and the leavers' service. The Chapel organ is at the heart of the school's worship, and the organist plays an integral part in shaping the musical atmosphere of these events.

Alongside your performance duties, you will have the chance to deliver organ tutoring to students of all ages and abilities, preparing them for concerts, workshops, examinations and scholarships.

We are looking for an organist with substantial teaching experience, a strong track record as a performer and the enthusiasm, warmth and commitment needed to inspire young musicians of all ages and abilities. This is an ideal role for a personable musician, who would like to contribute fully to the life of our vibrant musical community.

An attractive remuneration package will be discussed for this role at interview, which will also include accommodation.
