Overview

School Healthcare Assistant
Required from: October 2025
Contract term: Permanent
Hours: Part-Time 20 hours per week, Term Time only (plus INSET and 10 days during school holidays)
Salary: GDST London Grade 4 FTE £35,970 (pro-rata £15,933) per annum

If you offer office administration experience and are willing to learn First Aid, then this position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role as a Healthcare Assistant at Blackheath High School. You will support the School Nurse in providing an effective, high-quality medical care and first aid service to all members of the school community. You will also be responsible for the effective management of medical records.

Responsibilities
  • Providing emergency first aid to staff, students and visitors of the School
  • Dispensing/administering medication for pupils
  • Arranging vaccinations and other appropriate government directed health care programmes
  • Supervising the medical room
  • Ensuring pupil medical records are maintained and kept up to date
  • Assisting the School Nurse in the provision of first aid instruction

You will need First Aid at Work and First Aid Instructor qualifications or be willing to obtain these after joining.

The working hours will be 20 hours per week over 4 days, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (5 hours per day), with flexibility on start and finish times. The role is term time only (plus INSET and 10 days during school holidays).
