An opportunity has arisen for a School Nurse holding the SCPHN - School Nursing qualification to join our innovative team. Our team members are innovative and strive to provide excellent holistic care and support. New members of the team are supported by a mentoring and preceptorship programme.

Sandwell School Health Nurses strive to deliver services that are visible and accessible to the school aged population of Sandwell delivering universal public health services and ensuring early help and extra support is available to children and young people at the times when they need it.

Main duties of the job

Sandwell Band 6 SCPHN nurses work across the 6 towns in Sandwell delivering child focused universal public health services, supporting children and young people when they need it most.

Applicants must hold a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse/ School Nursing qualification.

Applicants must be car drivers and have daily use of a car as travel within the community is essential to the role.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN, RN/dipHE, Child Branch)Degree or equivalent
  • Specialist Public Health Degree (School Nursing).
  • Level 3 Child Protection Training
  • Teaching qualification, ENB 997/998, D32/33 or SLAIP.
  • Evidence of CPD with general management activities
Experience
  • Recent experience of Community Public Health Nursing.
  • Experience of multi-agency working
  • Health needs assessment and analysis skills.
  • Active caseload management.
  • Safeguarding Children
  • Aware of current research, able to apply it to practice.
  • Evidence of excellent clinical and professional practice.
Community Working
  • Has a full driving licence
  • Has access to a vehicle that can be utilised during the working day
