Job details

Job role: Administration, HR, data and finance

Visa sponsorship: Visas cannot be sponsored

Working pattern: Full time (Can be done as a job share): 32 hours per week, 41 weeks of the year, flexible working arrangements for days of the week.

Contract type: Permanent

Full-time equivalent salary: Between £32,061 and £36,363 depending on experience

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain appropriate, efficient financial systems and procedures within the school.
  • Maintain rigorous oversight of budgets, accounts, processes, and transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Manage secure and accurate financial data using school-specific systems and standard software packages.
  • Provide timely, authoritative financial direction on budgeting, best value, procurement, regulations, and income generation.
  • Ensure all staff involved in financial matters are competent and understand their responsibilities.
  • Assist with income generation activities alongside the Head Teacher and governing body.
  • Manage financial relationships with external bodies, including reporting, accounts payable/receivable, banking, CFR returns, grants, school fund, leasing, special event finances, and year-end accounts.
  • Liaise with support staff to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing where appropriate.
  • Support non-financial administrative duties as requested by the Head Teacher.
  • Uphold and enhance the school's reputation through positive engagement with pupils, parents, carers, and the wider community.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience in managing financial systems and procedures, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of school budget management, accounting, and financial compliance.
  • Proficient in using financial software and standard office software packages.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to provide accurate, timely financial advice.
  • Experience of working with external financial bodies and managing related reporting and compliance.
  • Ability to train and support staff in financial responsibilities.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
