School Finance Assistant - Wigan

Location: Wigan, Greater Manchester
Salary: 14 - 15 per hour
Contract: Full-time, temporary (until at least Christmas)
Start date: Immediate

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a skilled and detail‑oriented School Finance Assistant to join a welcoming and values‑driven secondary school in Wigan. This is an immediate start position expected to continue until at least Christmas.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the school's finance department, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day financial operations. You'll be working in a supportive environment that places a strong emphasis on respect, community and excellence, where every member of staff contributes to the school's mission of providing the best possible opportunities for its young people.

Duties will include:
  • Processing purchase orders, invoices and payments
  • Assisting with budget monitoring and financial reporting
  • Handling petty cash and school trips transactions
  • Supporting payroll and finance audits where required
  • Liaising with staff, suppliers and external agencies professionally and efficiently
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in a school finance role is essential
  • Strong working knowledge of finance systems (such as SIMS FMS or similar)
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and to deadlines
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
