School Cook (Temporary Cover)

Location: Knottingley

Pay: £15 per hour

Hours: 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Contract: Temporary

ASAP start for 4 weeks

We are seeking a School Cook to provide temporary cover for a school kitchen. This is an immediate start role for approximately 2-4 weeks.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about preparing and serving nutritious, delicious, and healthy meals for children and staff in a busy school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and cooking a variety of fresh meals in line with school menus and dietary requirements.
  • Ensuring all food preparation and storage adheres to strict food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Assisting with stock management, including accepting deliveries and rotating stock.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
  • Working efficiently to a strict schedule to ensure meals are ready on time for service.
  • Collaborating with other kitchen staff to deliver a high-quality service.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a cook in a school, care home, or similar high-volume catering environment.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check is essential.
  • A Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate is highly desirable.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to start immediately.
