Job summary

A local catering provider in Rendlesham is seeking a temporary School Cook/Chef to prepare and serve meals for approximately 150 students daily. The ideal candidate should be experienced, hold a Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate, and ensure high standards of service and hygiene. This position is from November 2 to December 19, with working hours from 08:30 to 13:30, Monday to Friday. If you're enthusiastic about cooking and catering, we'd love to hear from you.

Overview

School Cook / Chef

Location: Rendlesham IP12

Pay: £13.27 PAYE or £16.79 Umbrella

Working hours: 08:30–13:30 Mon–Fri

Length: temporary, from 2 November until 19 December

Requirements: Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate, Enhanced DBS and references (we can apply for a new DBS)

Responsibilities
  • Cater for approximately 150 meals a day (there are two Food Service Assistants on site)
  • Ensure service is delivered to a high standard and that set policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Prepare weekly menu
  • Supervise the unit including monitoring hygiene standards, staff training and day-to-day kitchen operations
  • Undertake and/or lead a team in the preparation, cooking and service of meals
  • Carry out administrative tasks including placing orders, stock control and monitoring of food budgets
  • Check and record amounts, price and condition of all deliveries and take necessary action
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen premises and equipment while keeping stock levels of cleaning materials
Requirements / Qualities
  • Experience as a Cook/Chef
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Sound understanding of current food hygiene practices and legislation
  • Knowledge in preparation and cooking of healthy, high-quality meals for a range of customer needs
  • Great team player, able to work as part of a wider catering team
  • References are required (we can arrange DBS if needed)
