Contract Type: Supply / Long term basis

Hours: Flexible (part-time or full-day shifts depending on school needs)

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join our supply pool supporting primary and secondary schools across Northumberland. This flexible role is ideal for someone with practical maintenance skills, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and closing school buildings
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks
• Ensuring the cleanliness and safety of school premises
• Conducting routine checks (fire alarms, security systems, heating, etc.)
• Supporting with deliveries, room set‑ups, and site safety
• Responding to urgent maintenance issues as needed

Requirements

• Previous caretaking, maintenance, or facilities experience (school experience desirable)
• Good practical skills and the ability to work independently
• Flexibility to work across different school sites
• A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
• Strong awareness of health & safety procedures
