Overview
Due to the expansion of the practice, we are seeking to recruit a salaried GP for 4-7 sessions per week. The post holder will be expected to participate in the triage and duty rota and to work across both practice sites. The ideal candidate will have:
- A track record of providing excellent patient care to a diverse patient population
- Completed additional training in a specific disease area or population (e.g. chronic disease management, womens health, elderly care)
- Completed training in minor surgery, or be willing to undertake additional training (preferable, but not essential)
- An interest in training either GP trainees or undergrads (preferable, but not essential)
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs, ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients
- Work collaboratively with other practice team members to maximise achievement of external clinical and non-clinical contracts
- Undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and handling queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers
- Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Develop care plans for health in line with current practice disease management protocols
- Provide counselling and health education
- Manage patients within the wider MDT and refer to other care providers as appropriate
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collect data for audit purposes
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
- Prescribe in accordance with the practice\'s prescribing formulary when clinically appropriate
- Support the practice in the provision of primary care services to a local nursing home
- Actively engage in maximising the QOF points for the practice at each contact with patients when appropriate
- Be involved with any Enhanced Services requiring involvement with a clinician
Other responsibilities within the organisation
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines (e.g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety)
- A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
- Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records
- Contributing to the summarising of patient records and SNOMED coding patient data
- Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies where appropriate
Qualifications
Essential
- Qualified GP on the Performers\' Register
Desirable
- Qualified in Minor Surgery
- Completed additional specialist training (e.g., chronic condition management, Women\'s Health, Elderly Care)
- Interest in training
