Introduction to role

Are you ready to make a positive impact in a team where it means more? As a key member of the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Team, you'll assist the Senior Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Manager in providing guidance, advice, and support across the site. You'll play a crucial role in implementing SHE strategies that align with our values and culture, ensuring compliance with legal standards and AstraZeneca's global benchmarks. Accountabilities
  • Assist the Senior SHE Manager in providing advice and support to site operations, facilitating the achievement of safety, wellness, and sustainability goals.

  • Promote a positive SHE culture by challenging existing practices and finding opportunities for improvement.

  • Serve as a reference point for SHE issues, supporting teams in interpreting and adopting the SHE strategy.

  • Foster collaborative working across departments to mitigate risk and support SHE-based leadership interventions.

  • Support incident investigation activities to identify causes and prevent recurrences.

  • Develop and deliver SHE training and education programs.

  • Manage the SHE reporting system, including user training and data analysis to inform performance and strategy development.

  • Assist in delivering programs to share 'standard methodology' SHE approaches.

  • Ensure project delivery meets SHE legal requirements and responsibilities are understood.

  • Provide guidance on specific SHE issues, advising on good practice and technical resolutions.

  • Build positive relationships with internal collaborators, suppliers, and partner organisations.

  • Integrate Operational Excellence into solution delivery.

Essential Skills/Experience
  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)

  • Proven Safety, Wellness, and Sustainability experience in a science, bioscience, or pharmaceutical environment

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation/developments in SHE

  • Flexible, adaptable, responsive to needs, and highly collaborative

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in partnering and influencing

  • Relevant SHE and technical expertise with proven problem-solving experience

  • Diversity of expertise required in each field, including liaison at various levels

Desirable Skills/Experience
  • Ideally working towards NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) with evidence of CPD

  • Good organization and communication skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially

  • Ability to influence others, act proactively, think beyond the role, and drive continuous improvement
