A leading defense contractor seeks a Safety Engineer to develop the SC3 safety case for the SC3 Weapon System. This role involves working with safety management plans and reports, ensuring compliance with defense regulations, and providing advice. Candidates must have active SC clearance and relevant safety management experience. The position is hybrid, with occasional meetings in Bristol.
Location: Abbey Wood, Bristol (hybrid with regular attendance, plus occasional meetings at MBDA Filton, Bristol)
Rate: Up to £550/day (Inside IR35, via an umbrella company)
Contract Duration: ASAP – 31/03/2026 (initial 110 days)
Clearance: Active SC required with sole UK nationality

The SC3 team sits within the Tactical Strike Delivery Team (TSDT) under Lethality and Protect (L&P), responsible for delivery of the SC3 Weapon System Demonstration and Manufacturing programme.
The Safety Engineer will work alongside the existing SC3 Safety Manager, reporting to the TSDT Chief Engineer (Senior Safety Responsible, SSR) and the SC3 Lead Engineer.
Focus will be on developing the SC3 safety case in accordance with DSA.02 during Demonstration phase through to entry into service. The Safety Engineer will ensure artefacts demonstrate compliance with policy, legislation and defence regulations, and that assets are demonstrably safe.
Day-to-day responsibilities include contributing to the Safety Management Plan (SMP) and providing specialist safety advice, tasking, and reporting.
