Roller Operator Required: Major Energy Infrastructure (Isle of Skye)

Location & Compensation

Isle of Skye, Scotland – Accommodation Paid

Rate: £23.63 per hour (CIS)

Schedule

Rota: 11 days on, 3 days off

Start Date: February 2026

Duration

Long-Term Ongoing Contract – Expected 2‑3 Years

The Role

We are urgently recruiting an experienced and diligent Roller Operator to join the groundworks teams on a critical, long‑term energy infrastructure project on the Isle of Skye. Your primary responsibility will be compacting fill material, sub‑bases, and final surfaces for new site access roads and the concrete pad areas for the transmission tower bases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operating heavy vibratory rollers (smooth drum and/or padfoot) for compaction of granular materials and sub‑bases to required densities.
  • Compact access roads and the ground beneath structural concrete pads in line with engineering specifications.
  • Adhering strictly to rolling patterns and maintaining safe working distances from edges, slopes, and other plant.
  • Working efficiently with the wider groundworks gang to ensure timely and effective use of the compaction window.
Requirements
  • Valid CPCS or NPORS Roller ticket (required).
  • Valid CSCS Card (required).
  • Proven experience operating heavy rollers on large civil engineering sites, ideally involving road construction or rough terrain preparation.
  • Must be able to commit to the structured 11‑on, 3‑off rotation starting in February.
