Job Summary:
The Risk Manager implements processes to identify, control, and report risks within the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a risk management process applicable at the project level.
- Provide advice and guidance to Senior Managers and Project Managers on applying the process and classifying risks; ensure full understanding and utilization to effectively recognize and manage risks.
- Support Senior Management in administering the risk management process, focusing on risks to achieving business benefits and the objectives of sub-programmes and projects.
- Facilitate risk management workshops as needed.
- Assist Senior Managers in recognizing opportunities to minimize risks through inter-project cooperation and synergy.
- Ensure development of risk mitigation action plans, appointment of risk owners, and monitor their implementation; update project plans accordingly.
- Manage and maintain project risk management systems (e.g., Xactium, @Risk, PRA).
- Lead application of project-level QRA, comment on contingency adequacy, and report regularly.
- Provide risk reports for monthly cycles.
Project Specific:
- Knowledge of Xactium, @Risk, & Primavera Risk Analyser.
Technical Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of risk management tools, techniques, and software.
- Understanding of construction projects and statistical methods like Monte Carlo Analysis.
- Proficiency with schedule risk modelling software such as Pertmaster.
Behavioral Competencies:
- Attention to detail and ability to analyze issues deeply.
- Collaborative working style and facilitation skills for risk reviews.
- Ability to present complex information clearly.
Qualifications, Certifications, and Experience:
- Relevant risk management experience.
- Experience with large (£100m+) projects.
- MAPM or equivalent PM/planning qualification or professional experience.
- Experience in the railway sector.
