Midwife – Risk & Incident Lead Midwife

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an innovative and experienced Midwife to join our maternity team. The role focuses on risk, governance and incident review within maternity services.

Responsibilities
  • Review incidents, MNSI data and other maternity incidents with the wider maternity team.
  • Support quality and governance agenda within maternity, ensuring practice is safe, evidence‑based and current.
  • Oversight and monitoring of incidents and presentation of key performance indicators.
  • Lead review of action plans and recommendations from After Action Reviews and PSII.
  • Participate in the maternity manager on‑call rota and work clinically as part of the escalation pathway.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Midwife with current NMC registration.
  • Degree level education.
  • Masters, working towards Masters or equivalent experience/portfolio of evidence.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable
  • Teaching or mentorship course completed.
Experience
Essential
  • Practising Midwife for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Experience in all midwifery settings.
  • Experience of working to deadlines.
Desirable
  • Experience of incident review.
  • Experience working within a governance setting.
  • Experience of participation in maternity manager on call rota.
