Description

Nursing Personnel are recruiting a Practice Nurse Manager for a GP Practice in Kingston Upon Thames.

Specific Job Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality, compassionate nursing care to our patient populations alongside the nursing and healthcare assistant team
  • Undertake Practice Nursing duties including, but not limited to;
  • Cervical Screening
  • Childhood immunisations
  • Ear Syringing
  • Wound Care
  • ECGs
  • Audiology
  • Venepuncture
  • Hypertension management
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Take a lead in an area of Chronic Disease Management, such as Asthma, COPD or Diabetes
  • Work alongside GP leads to deliver practice targets such as immunisation uptake
  • To assess, diagnose and prescribe appropriately within your capability and nursing grade. Ensuring practice prescribing policy is adhered to
  • Participate in practice audit programmes for health promotion, target maintenance and patient care
  • Lead on Infection Prevention and Control in the practice
  • Work alongside the practice management team to provide a nursing perspective to developing practice policies
  • Coordinate and chair nurse meetings involving all members of the integrated nursing team on a bimonthly basis to disseminate internal practice and external information
  • Responsible for developing the role of the Health Care Assistant
  • Responsible for staff appraisals and development with the nursing team
  • To update and maintain accurate patient medication records on the practice clinical computer system, including advice given and action taken
  • Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by the NMC
  • Provide a good learning environment for patients, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants
  • Be responsible for own continuing professional development
  • Support and encourage further education of nurses and HCAs within the practice team
  • Work collaboratively with the practice team
  • Participate in practice meetings, patient participation groups and other meetings to improve engagement with the role of the nursing team
