A police department in the UK is seeking a skilled investigator to join their Homicide Review Team on a part-time basis. The role involves researching unsolved homicides, preparing review documentation, and progressing cold case investigations alongside a team of professionals. Essential qualifications include experience as a supervisor in a homicide context and excellent communication skills. The work requires a full UK driving license and covers flexible hours to meet investigation demands.
The Homicide Review Team consists of 6 investigators, a mix of experienced detectives and experienced police staff, who are supported by and report to a Detective Sergeant under the direction of a Detective Inspector. The team also has close support from a HOLMES Manager.
Prospective officers and staff must be held to a higher standard of behaviour and accountability than members of the public, and that therefore their right to privacy can be fettered in certain circumstances. This is to ensure that members of the police are fully aware and accountable for the unique powers entrusted to them and the standards of professional behaviour they swear to uphold.
Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
Hours of working will be Monday – Friday between 8am and 4pm, although post holder may be required to work outside these hours occasionally according to the demands of the enquiry they are assigned to complete.
