How You’ll Play Your Part

In this role, you will support the Retail Credit Underwriting team in the provision of an efficient and empathetic underwriting service to the dealer network by acting as a support administrator and product specialist.

Main Accountabilities
  • Monitor the retail credit queue to ensure that where possible, proposals are returned to the dealers quickly, efficiently and within pre‑agreed SLAs. Analyse all aspects of credit proposals taking into account credit and asset risk and where necessary make direct contact with customers and professional bodies to obtain further information to support the decision‑making process.
  • Take responsibility for processing retail credit proposals through the Proposal Management System (Subject, Bank Validation, Open Banking and CRA check) within agreed timescales and defined authority levels.
  • Ensure all completed Open Banking returns, or full manual PDF bank statements are documented accurately, the affordability calculator updated in‑line with verified amounts, and any vulnerable or fraudulent transactions are reported to the relevant Retail Credit Underwriter or Team Leader.
  • Provide support to the Underwriting team by performing additional manual searches, internet‑based searches and to obtain any further information as requested by the Underwriters to support the decision‑making process. Monitor incoming additional information, review for completeness and work with the relevant underwriter in an efficient manner.
  • Respond efficiently and professionally to incoming calls from Agents regarding underwriting queries. Develop, manage and maintain a positive and professional business relationship with Agents and MBFS Sales personnel to facilitate achievement of departmental and company objectives. Confidently communicate rejection decisions to dealership staff whilst adhering to Data Protection Law. Where necessary, advise dealers of additional information or improved terms required to advance an application.
  • Fraud Detection: To carry out security checks with potential customers for the purposes of information gathering to verify the application, carry out Hunter and/or CIFAS fraud checks.
About You
  • GCSE or equivalent English Language and Mathematics is preferable.
  • Experience in a similar customer focused administrative role.
  • Keen eye for accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communicator with excellent telephone manner.
  • General understanding of finance industry legislation including Data Protection Act, Consumer Credit Act and Anti‑Money Laundering.
  • Preferably some knowledge of MBFS product portfolio, procedures and systems (Phoenix, e‑POS, Goldmine, SAP, Word, Excel).
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work within a pressurised environment whilst maintaining focus on personal, departmental and company objectives.
